Converse and Journeys have paired up to bring you the “Get Out of the Garage” music contest! Consumers pick up a self-addressed envelope at any Journeys shoe store ( www.Journeys.com ). Afterwards, they can drop the self-addressed envelope, which must contain only ONE song for review, in to the mail. Alternatively, they can upload their song at: http://www.GetOutOfTheGarageMusicContest.com.

There are two rounds of judging. In the first round the top 10 songs (finalist) will be chosen. In round two, Downtown Records will choose the top song (finalist) out of the 10 song demos. The finalist chosen by Downtown Records will win the prize of a free trip to NYC for 4 days, 3 nights of free studio time to create and mix their own song.

The remaining 9 finalists will receive a pair of Converse shoes, a gift certificate from Converse, and prizing from Guitar Center to be determined.

All songs submissions must be sent to Cornerstone for judging by September 15th.

The contest starts NOW, and the top 10 finalists will be announced and contacted at the end of October. Get your song dropped off or uploaded today!

Last night I re-kindled my love affair with Annie Lennox. That’s right, I said it. Guiltily pleasured charged, and I may as well come out with it. So I figured we could all use a little review of music that’s socially inappropriate (or enlightened) for our age.

Now I’ve been a sucker for Annie Lennox since I was dipping in my Jolly Jumper while moms was boogalooing to Eurythmics. Ya I might have been young, but I wasn’t stupid, and I soon fell victim to Annie’s smooth voice, 80’s fiya, and orange hair. From then onwards, I’d be a sucker for just about anything dropped by this diva of mine.

Jigga please, another blogger riding out Sweet Dreams?? No sucka.. I said Jolly Jumper and that means I’m OG Eurythmics… but I will hit you with two choice remixes from Chew Fu (Palms Out) and Vid Kids (forget where I gnarred this, but the kiddies roll deep).

Santogold isn’t just Hype

Santagold has topped the charts at HypeMachine the past little while which comes as no surprise given her recent releases. Her self-titled album, which dropped April 29th, nearly two weeks after being leaked to p2p, was universally acclaimed as illustrated by the 81% score it received on MetaCritic. It features some heavy hitting electroplayers such as Diplo, Radioclit, XXXchange, Sinden, Switch and others such as MIA!

Let me be the first to say that Santogold is pure fiyya and hopefully here to stay. (Kid sister can take a seat for now). We threw together a couple choice cuts for you to salivate too, and a video sent over from Jessie at Cornerstone Promotions.

We’ll my friends, it’s finally here. We’re both happy and proud to announce the launch of the fresh-out-the-cooker earwigs & wax! It’s been just under a year since we kicked off earwigs & wax as a music blog. Thanks to the steady support from both our contributing artists and readers, we were able to launch this new and exciting site.
